Why am I saying Google and Yahoo treat Sri Lankans and other non-USA people very bad

Google?????
"This is a global village. Every body treated as one in this E-World"
Who says this? I did believe this foolish idea until I found out it isn't.

Have you ever heard about " Google"?
Have you seen a web-site called "Yahoo!"?

He he, I am such a fool to ask that question. So you laughed at me. Yes you did. Then answer this question.

Do Yahoo and Google provide their services globally?
You laughed again. Why? Just answer it. You would say "Yes, they do"

Do they care about the entire globe? Do they treat every man in the same?
Ha ha, That's a tough question. But the answer is "No, They don't". They only care about USA and the people in developed countries. Why am I saying this?

I tried freelance writing at "Associated contents", and after writing few articles they said me "You can't earn from these articles unless you live in USA". I am blogging here, but Google doesn't allow me to use Adsense program simply because I am from Sri-Lanka.

Google says they cannot trust bloggers from Sri Lanka,India,China,Malaysia,Pakistan, etc. Wow. But why? They say We spoil their Adsense program by using illegal means to increase the Adsense revenue. Wow. So it should be reasonable to have strict rules on non-USA bloggers, in-order to keep the quality of  the Adsense program. Hmm, they got a point. If you also think so, then answer my following questions.

  • Do all the people in USA follow 100% legal means to earn from Adsense?
  • Doesn't Google have the technology to separate good and bad publishers from non-USA countries?

Why Google cannot identify and allow legal appliers from non USA countries to enjoy the Adsense program.? They could give a test period for new appliers and easily could identify legal users.

And why we cannot Blog in non-English languages to get Adsese?
Simply because Google cares only about USA and not bothering about us. :-(

So bloggers like me, who make lots of English grammar mistakes, would never get Adsense approved.

Percy's adventure in the 1996 Cricket World cup Semi final

Disappointed Indian crowd.
Underdog Sri Lanka did really well to reach the semis in 96 World cup. Nobody believed Sri Lanka could win the trophy until that big semifinal against India was won. India had a decent playing eleven to win a world cup. By this time Tendulkar was showing the signs of becoming a legend, while the rest played around him. The form of the Indian team would have created big hopes in Indian hearts.

After showing some extraordinary batting skills, Sanath and Kaluwitharane were in  a mood to thrash Indians out of the competition from the first ball. Ranathunge, Aravinda and Gurusinghe made the Lankan middle order looks very solid.

Azar, Indian captain won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first. But all of a sudden both Kaluwitharane and Sanath Jayasooriya were sent back to the hutch by Srinath in his first over. Then came the world cup hero Aravinda who scored a classy 66 runs with pulls, cover drives and all. Mahanama, Ranatunge, Thilakarathne made decent contributions to bring Sri Lanka to the competitive total of 251.

The reason for India to bowl first was the doubt created by Sanath and Kalu. They believed even a score of 300 would not be enough to defend in the presence of Sanath and Kalu. But still a score of 251 was chasable with in-form Sachin Tendulkar and Vinodh Kambli.

Although the wickets were fallen down quickly, Indians still had hopes as Sachin was still at the middle. All of a sudden a close LBW shout by Chaminda Vass was turned down by the umpire. ( It was a dead right appeal, but was given not out)

But then the magic stumping by Kaluwitharane departed Sachin from the middle and then Sri Lankans knew they were going for a World cup final.

But the Indians...

Crowd in the Eaden garden couldn't bare the feelings of a defeat, so they started throwing water bottles at Sri Lankan fielders. This is one of the rare black stains in Cricket and the game was awarded to Sri Lanka.

But there's some thing most of the people don't know.
There were two Sri Lankans in the stadium surrounded by hundred thousand of Indians. Who were they? One of them was Mr. Percy who had been ragged by the Indian crowd in the middle of the conflict. Some how Arjuna Ranathunge  had seen Percy and the other guy. Arjuna had rescued and taken Percy and his friend back to the hotel.

Ranathunge is such a leading character who brought us the World up in 1996, during a period even the Sri Lankans didn't believe we could win a World cup.

Selecting a mobile network in Sri Lanka.

Since the government passed a new law to level the call charges of every network, the new subscribers face a tough test to select a network in Sri Lanka.
It is up to the individuals to decide whether the new-law is good or not. I am trying to write about selecting a network in Sri Lanka.

Dialog is the biggest network with more than 6 million users while Mobitel grows rapidly with 4 million as the second. Etisalat ranks at third place with 3 million subscribers and the new network Airtel is at the fourth place with 1 million subscribers.

If you are planning to buy a new connection then consider the following facts.

  • Network Coverage: All the above networks have covered the most of the island. But the signal levels might change from place to place depending on the distance from the tower and other geographical factors. But in my personal opinion, Dialog got the most accomplished network coverage, covering towns as well as Rural parts.
  • Number of subscribers per tower: How many times you have tried to call someone and that voice said "Network Busy".  It really frustrate many users and Mobitel hasn't taken enough steps to solve this problem. Dialog once stopped giving new connections, in order to provide the old-subscribers a good service. But now Mobitel is also improving their infrastructure facilities to satisfy their users.
  • Outgoing calls: In my case, most of the friends got Mobitel connections, so it's cheap for me to have a Mobitel connection. Dialog got the biggest network and they always say it is the cheapest network because of its large population. But we are not going to call all their 6 million, right?. It is unfair to judge the best network, from the population due to that reason.
  • Special packages: Airtel got that unique system of packages for prepaid users. If you make a reload of exact rs.25, they give you some free Airtel to Aitel Calls and SMS. So it might be a good option for lovers. But yet again most of the people don't use Airtel, so using Airtel as the permanent network might not be the wise decision. Mobitel's famous "UPAHARA" package was a golden opportunity for many university students and State-professionals for a cheap bill. But now they are not offering that anymore, so If you have got one already, then you are lucky!
Most of the youths and students got Mobitel. And it's rapidly growing. So I personally recommend Mobitel as the most suited network for new subscribers.

But yet you must  think wise to select a network to suite your purpose. If you have no worries about the cost but only considers about the service then go with Dialog. Airtel is my recommend for couples.

Etisalat got many features, but I wonder who the hell would worry about the features in this Internet era, I think I don't want to talk about that very poor network of Hutch, which has still failed to establish well in Sri Lanka.

Mobitel is the only company which is100% Sri Lankan. That's something we should consider before selecting a network. Although I like Mobitel than Dialog, I'm too a Dialog user. Ha ha! Not because I got money, but because my father has Dialog and he is the one who bought me a SIM. But I hope to switch to Mobitel very soon.

Repeat 96! Bring back the World-Cup!

Arjuna with 96 World Cup
Santh came to the crease and first he marked the middle-stump. Kalu waited at the other end, to see another thundering Jayasooriya ton. Every Sri Lankan stayed glued to the televisions and prayed for another Jasooriya ton.

But both Kalu and Jayasooriya departed quickly. Lankans started to feel the tense. But Aravinda and Gurusinghe didn't give up. They hammered Aussie bowlers all around the ground.

For the first time in history, a Sri Lankan team won a World-cup, with the winning late-cut of captain Arjuna Ranathunge. Since then Lankans got Cricket in their blood. Many young players emerged and a good cricketing culture born here.

Everybody knew that Mahela would play for Sri Lanka since he captained Nalanda. Sangakkara came from nowhere and even the people who hated him at first, saying he got a political pull to get in to the team began to support him.

Young gut called Mathews, won over many cricketing hearts all over the globe. Slinger Malinga rocks form the day he showed up.

One hero of the 96 triumph still remains in the team. He is none-else than our own Legendary Murali. I can hardly remember Kulasekara missing the line and length.

It seems that we got every thing, but one. What is that??? The cup that counts. The cup which We deserves to bring home! Bring it guys! We badly need it. We wanna go on rallies once again. We wanna rock once again!!!
